Beginner’s Guide of Social Media Lingo

A Day in a Life of a Social Media Manager and Advocate…

Some of our clients are perfectly comfortable speaking and understanding social media lingo while others (and certainly new clients) require a dictionary to make sense of it all.   In a typical day as a social media manager, I expect to do the following:   share, follow, connect, like, friend, invite, join, pin or repin as well as …..blog (you are reading it right now!)

The lingo used in today’s social media world has evolved into a unique language of its own.  If you are not socially active and do not spend time on these sites you may find yourself dazed, confused and even become frustrated with the lingo if you decide to jump in.

With that in mind, I have developed a beginner’s guide of the most commonly used terms on the most popular social media sites.   Please note, these are only the basic terms, but enough to get a new user started. Feel free to share your favorite social media site and terms in the comment field below.

Terms in bold are used to perform an action on the corresponding social media sites.
